Why Practitioner Verification Matters

When it comes to healthcare, trust isn't optional — it's essential. That's why we only list professionals who are fully qualified, regulated, and in good standing with the appropriate UK governing bodies. Our verification process is built to protect patients and support the integrity of care.

Our Verification Process

Every practitioner you find on DocMap goes through a multi-step vetting process before appearing on our platform:

Official Registration Check

We confirm the practitioner is actively registered with their relevant regulator (e.g., HCPC, GMC, GDC).

Title & Identity Verification

We ensure the professional's title, credentials, and identity match their public records.

Clinic Affiliation Match

We cross-reference their stated clinic or organisation to ensure accuracy and transparency.

Good Standing Confirmation

We check that the practitioner is not under suspension or investigation.

Ongoing Monitoring

We regularly recheck registration status to ensure continued eligibility.

What You'll See on a DocMap Profile

Each verified practitioner's profile clearly shows:

  • Their professional registration number (e.g., HCPC Reg No: PYL12345)
  • The name of their regulator
  • The last verified date
  • A link to their official register page (where applicable)

These markers are your guarantee that the professional meets the high standards we expect.

Regulators We Work With

We verify practitioners against the official UK regulators, including:

  • GMC – General Medical Council
  • HCPC – Health and Care Professions Council
  • GDC – General Dental Council
  • BACP – British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy
  • And other legally recognised bodies depending on the field of care

What Happens If a Practitioner Loses Good Standing?

We take patient safety seriously. If we become aware that a practitioner is:

  • Suspended or removed from their register,
  • Under disciplinary action,
  • Or no longer meets our verification standards,

Their profile will be removed or paused until the matter is resolved.

Have Questions or Concerns?

If you ever have questions about a practitioner's qualifications or would like to report an issue, please contact us directly. We take all concerns seriously and will review each case promptly.

Email our team: support@docmap.co.uk

How to File a Complaint About a Practitioner

If you believe a practitioner has acted unprofessionally, unethically, or in a way that compromises patient care, you have two options:

1. Report it to DocMap

We're committed to patient safety. If you experienced something concerning, you can:

  • Email us at support@docmap.co.uk
  • Provide the practitioner's name, the date of the incident, and a brief description
  • We will investigate, and if necessary, suspend the profile during review

2. Contact the Professional Regulator

You can also submit a formal complaint directly to the practitioner's regulatory body. For example:

  • HCPC (Health and Care Professions Council) – Submit a concern about a professional. They investigate serious concerns about fitness to practise.
  • GMC (General Medical Council) – Raise a concern with the GMC
  • GDC (General Dental Council) – Report a dental professional

We encourage patients to report any behavior that compromises care, safety, or professionalism.
