Dr. Panicos Shangaris is a Consultant in Obstetrics and Maternal-Fetal Medicine with over 20 years of experience supporting women and families through every stage of pregnancy. Dr. Shangaris specialises in preconception counselling, early pregnancy scans, advanced fetal diagnostics, and the management of complex pregnancies. Dr. Shangaris graduated from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland in 2005 before completing specialist training in Obstetrics and Maternal-Fetal Medicine in London. He pursued his advanced training at King’s College Hospital and St. Thomas’ Hospital, where he was mentored by world-renowned experts in Fetal Medicine. He holds a Master’s degree in Fetal Medicine and Prenatal Genetics from University College London (UCL) and was awarded the prestigious Wellcome Trust Research Fellowship to complete his PhD in Fetal Medicine. As a Senior Clinical Lecturer at King’s College London, Dr. Shangaris leads research into cutting-edge innovations in fetal medicine and mentors the next generation of specialists. His academic work is focused on improving outcomes in pregnancy, particularly for women at risk of preterm labour. He is a specialist in preventative strategies, including progesterone therapy, cervical length surveillance, and expertly performed cervical cerclage procedures—providing tailored care designed to optimise health outcomes for both mother and baby. Dr. Shangaris combines advanced academic expertise with a deeply compassionate approach to clinical care. He is known for his calm, reassuring manner and takes the time to answer every question—ensuring that women feel informed, supported, and empowered throughout their pregnancy journey.
