About

Professional profile

Dr Sophie Clarke is a Consultant Reproductive Endocrinologist at University College London Hospital. She undertook her postgraduate training in London, working in several teaching hospitals, before being awarded an NIHR academic clinical fellowship at Imperial College London, where she investigated the use of the endogenous hormone ‘kisspeptin’ in fertility treatments. Upon completion of her PhD, she was awarded an NIHR Clinical Lectureship during which she continued her research into conditions affecting reproduction, including functional hypothalamic amenorrhoea, hypogonadotrophic hypogonadism and polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS).

Dr Clarke has been awarded national and international prizes for her research, and has been invited to present at several international conferences, including the American Endocrine Society Annual meeting. She also works closely with patient groups and charities, including Verity PCOS.

During her busy NHS practice, she provides care to patients with a variety of conditions, including polycystic ovarian syndrome, functional hypothalamic amenorrhoea and hypogonadotrophic hypogonadism, as well as male patients with subfertility. She also provides care to women with premature ovarian insufficiency (POI) and Turner syndrome.

Clinical Interest and Expertise

Dr Clarke provides specialist care to patients presenting with conditions that cause subfertility and well as disturbance of the reproductive axis. She has a particular interest in functional hypothalamic amenorrhoea and PCOS, as well as premature ovarian insufficiency and is passionate about providing excellent, evidence-based care in a holistic manner.

I am committed to providing excellent, holistic care to women of all ages. I therefore am excited to be able to work within a truly multi-disciplinary team here at LUNA in order to ensure that women receive a therapeutic approach that is not only evidence based, but tailored to their individual needs.
