About

I am the Endometriosis Clinical Nurse Specialist CNS and Advanced Laparoscopic Surgical Assistant at the BSGE accredited Endometriosis Centre the Spire Hospital in Pentwyn, Cardiff , the only private centre in Wales. I am part of a multidisciplinary team providing specialist care for girls, women and those identified as female at birth with symptom assessment and mangement options. Until recently I was also the Endometrtiosis CNS in the Univesrity Hospital of Wales since 2006 but now am in a supportive role and continue to surgically assist.

I offer a virtual clinic which enables you to get a greater understanding and awareness without physical examination, carrying out an in depth analysis of symptoms, an evaluation of impact and response of previous management options, assessment of current symptoms and concerns, development of a care plan and strategy to enable improved quality of life.

As part of my role I have developed skills to enhance the assessment and management of the multifactorial aspects of this condition and how it affects your quality of life. I am involved in all aspects of care from diagnosis; medical and surgical management. As a BSGE accredited centre, I support the input of your symptoms and surgical details data to the database. I am not a non-medical prescriber but can guide you on medical management options available in primary and secondary care.

I have facilitated a self referral, GP or consultant referral, clinic since 2007 in the NHS. This clinic was designed primarily to enable time to discuss all aspects and concerns of endometriosis as each person needed. Audit and service review has clearly identified the benefits to the individual for greater understanding, improved self management, control and quality of life.

I was a member of the Endometriosis Clinical Nurse Specialist BSGE subcommittee 2016 - 2023. I was the nurse lead for the Endometriosis Task and Finish Group charged by the Welsh assembly to review service provision and access in Wales and supported the introduction of Endometriosis CNS to each Health Board in Wale. I am a member of Strategy Advisory Group (London) to review endometriosis patient experience in England and Wales. I was a member of the NCEPOD Endometriosis review (2024) https://www.ncepod.org.uk/2024endometriosis.html. and was expert witness with NICE Ryeqo validiation enquiry. I am a member of the Womens Health Plan group in Wales developing tools to increase knowledge awareness clinically and in society.
