I am a practitioner psychologist registered with the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC) and chartered with the British Psychological Society (BPS). I am also an Associate Fellow of the BPS. You will find me too on the Register of Psychologists Specialising in Psychotherapy (ROPSIP). The HCPC (hpc-uk.org) is a UK government agency set up to protect the public and to make sure that health professionals, including psychologists, keep their skills and knowledge up to date.
I have been a health psychologist since 2004 and chartered since 2008. Health psychology focuses on how the mind and body work together, which is particularly important when managing conditions like IBS. Health psychologists are trained to help people navigate the challenges of physical health conditions, often addressing how stress, anxiety, and other emotional factors can influence symptoms.
As well as working at home with private clients I have previously worked at the Royal National Hospital for Rheumatic Diseases in Bath in the CRPS department; and with the Haemophilia Society, the NCT (National Childbirth Trust) breastfeeding counsellors and with an NHS diabetes service. I worked too with the University of Bath in implementing a programme to help adolescents eat healthily and take up physical activity.
I bring both personal and professional experience in supporting individuals with IBS. I understand the complexities of this condition and how it can affect all aspects of life, from managing symptoms to dealing with the emotional toll. My goal is to help you develop strategies to improve your quality of life, reduce symptom-related stress, and regain a sense of control.
I am registered with various health insurance companies including AXA, BUPA and Aviva.
I am a very down to earth person with a sense of humour and good interpersonal skills.
